ORANGE COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS
A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING STAFF TO DEVELOP AN AGREEMENT FOR THE TRANSFER
OF A PARCEL OF COUNTY OWNED PROPERTY TO THE TOWN OF CHAPEL HILL
WHEREAS, Orange County acquired by tax foreclosure in 1977 a small
parcel of land on Scarlette Drive in Chapel Hill, and
WHEREAS, this parcel is of no practical use to the County under current
circumstances, and
WHEREAS, this parcel abuts a larger parcel of land owned by the Town of
Chapel Hill, and
WHEREAS, informal discussions at staff level have reflected the Town's
interest in acquiring the County owned parcel, to be combined with the
Town owned parcel and used for a joint affordable housing demonstration
project involving the Town and orange Community Housing Corporation;
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT the Orange County Board of
Commissioners does hereby authorize the County Manager and County
Attorney to pursue a formal agreement between the County and the Town
that would lead to the transfer of the County owned parcel to the Town,
for nominal consideration, for affordable housing purposes.
