PURPOSE:
To approve, on second reading, changes to the Animal Control Ordinance to enhance the
prevention of rabies spreading into Orange County by revising the schedule of civil

enforcement of ordinance.
BACKGROUND:
The Board of Commissioners received the proposed changes to the Animal Control
Ordinance at the meeting of September 20, 1995, as a part of the Rabies Prevention
Program Strategy. The absence of full attendance required that the adoption of the
changes be carried over for a second reading at the meeting of October 2, 1995.
RECOMMENDATION(S): The Manager recommends that the attached changes to
the Animal Control Ordinance regarding fines and
penalties be approved and that the changes go into
affect upon adoption.
