ORANGE COUNTY
NORTH CAROLINA
A RESOLUTION IN SUPPORT OF THE SECOND LA FIESTA DEL PUEBLO IN
CHAPEL HILL ON SEPTEMBER 9 AND 10 , 1995
WHEREAS , about 150 ,000 Americans of Hispanic heritage live in
North Carolina ; and
WHEREAS , Hispanic. Americans participate in all aspects of the
economic , cultural and social life of the Orange County
community ; and
WHEREAS , the Latin American community richly conL'ributes to
the cultural and social diversity that help make the Orange
County community an excellent place to live , and
WHEREAS „ there is a need for a greater sense of community
among all citizens , including Latin American citizens , and
for increased communication with health , social services and
other community service agencies , and
WHEFEA1--1 , the Fiesta deal Pueblo will include the North
Carolina 'Hispanic soccer league finals , Latin Almerican
dances , music , foods , arts . crafts , sports , and chi ldro= n 's
games to be enjoyed by everyone who attends ; and
WHEREAS , last. year 's first Latin American festival in Chapel
Hill l was eery succ�sr ful , aft r actin J over 000 isitcrs;
IOW , THEREF=ORE , BE IT RESOLVED by Lh' =- County Board of
Comm"Lssioner.s tf-tat the Board her-eby exp't' es'ses its strong
support of the second "La Fiesta del Pueblo" celebration at
Lincoln Center , Merritt Mill Road , on the weekend of
September 9th and 10th , and encourage�� all citizens to attend
and participate in the festivities .
