PURPOSE: To consider awarding a bid for the purchase of forty one (41)
personal computers and two (2) LAN File Servers for various
Orange County Departments.
BACKGROUND: Funds have been allocated in the 1995-96 budget for the purchase
of Personal Computers and File Servers. Orange County has
identified needs and developed specifications for Personal
Computers. Orange County advertised the bid and six responsive
bids were received. A copy of the tabulation is attached.
P.C. Innovations of Cary, North Carolina submitted the lowest
responsible bid at a delivered cost of $1,099.00 each for 486
DX2/66 Mhz personal computers, $1,403.00 each for Pentium 90
personal computers, and $6,247.00 for LAN File Servers. The
County will purchase a total of forty-one personal computers.
The County will purchase some Pentium 90 machines. However,
Data Processing will conduct a case by case assessment to
determine if a particular application requires an upgrade to a
Pentium 90. It is anticipated Departments such as Budget and
the County Engineer would warrant an upgrade.
RECOMMENDATION:. The Manager recommends award of the bid to P.C. Innovations of
Cary, North Carolina at a delivered cost of $1,099.00 each for
486 DX2/66 Mhz personal computers, $1,403.00 each for Pentium 90
personal computers, and $6,247.00 for LAN File Servers.
