PURPOSE: To approve an amendment to the existing Agreement
between Orange County and Environmental Systems
Research Institute (ESRI) that renews the conditions
of purchasing GIS software and hardware.
BACKGROUND: In 1990 the County entered an Agreement with
ESRI for the purchase of Geographic Information System (GIS)
software and hardware, which establishes the terms and
conditions of buying products and services, such as price,
discounts, and technical support. Periodically ESRI offers an
Agreement ammendment to include new products and services.
The Board of Commissioners approved a renewal in 1992.
The proposed ammendment, which extends through June 15, 1997,
does not commit the County to any specific purchase, nor is
any new purchase a part of this request. Approval qualifies
the County to receive significant discounts on future
purchases of software and annual maintenance.
RECOMMENDATION(S) : The Manager recommends that the Board of
County Commisioners approve the amendment to the Master
Purchase Agreement between the County and ESRI for GIS
software and hardware, and authorize the Chair to sign.
