MEMORANDUM OF AGREEMENT
ESTABLISHING A RESEARCH GRANT-IN-AID
THIS AGREEMENT,effective this 1St day of June , 19 95 by and
between The Pennsylvania State University (hereinafter referred to as "University"), and
Orange County,North Carolina (hereinafter referred to as "Donor")
WITNESSETH:
WHEREAS Donor has a desire to support the development of fundamental research in
fields having an impact relevant to Donor's interests, and whereas University has an
ongoing fundamental research program in those fields at the Department of Agricultural
and Biological Engineering, (hereinafter referred to as "Unit"),which is consistent with
the research interests of the Donor,
NOW,THEREFORE,in consideration of the premises and mutual covenants herein
contained, the parties hereto agree to the following:
Article 1- Objectives of Research
Description of the Research and its objectives are identified in Exhibit A, which is
attached hereto and incorporated herein.
Article 2 - Program Administration and Period
This grant-in-aid shall be administrated by Albert R. Jarrett(Principal Investigator)of
the Unit in accordance with the policies and procedures of the Unit and The Pennsylvania
State University and in consultation with Warren Faircloth,Erosion Control Supervisor,
in the Donor's Planning and Inspection Department. It shall commence upon July 1,
1995 and terminate on March 31, 1996. It may be renewed for additional periods upon
the mutual consent of the parties.
Article 3 - Funds
In financial support of the grant-in-aid, Donor agrees to pay to The Pennsylvania State
University the sum of$8,000. This sum shall be payable in advance on or about the start
date shown above.
Article 4 - Publications
The University retains title in and has the right to publish the results of Research.
Preprints of technical papers intended for publication shall be available to Donor upon
request. Periodic reports on progress in Research may be produced from time to time,
and these reports will be available to Donor upon request. Donor is not precluded from
disseminating descriptive reports of said information. The Donor's grant-in-aid will be
acknowledged in publications, unless the Donor desires otherwise and so advises the
University in writing.
Article 5 - Publicity
No advertising or publicity matter having or containing any reference to the University or
in which the name of the University is mentioned shall be made use of by the Donor until
written approval has been obtained from the University.
IN WITNESS WHEREOF, the parties have caused these presents to be executed in
duplicate as of the day and year first above written.
