PURPOSE
To approve an application to the State Budget Office to release funds from Orange County's
Public School Building Capital Fund account for the renovation project at Stanford Middle School
for the Orange County Schools.
BACKGROUND
Approved in the 1994-1999 Capital Improvements Plan is a spending plan to draw down
additional Public School Building Capital Funds for the renovation project at the Stanford Middle
School. This $1.8 million project refurbishes this school, including interior and exterior painting,
replacing carpet, repairing drop ceilings, replacing light fixtures, renovating laboratories, as
required. The attached application draws down $419,419 of the remaining balance in this fund.
As of February, 1995, the County had $478,234 unallocated. With this application, the remaining
balance in this account would be $58,815.
The application process requires formal requests for funding from both the Board of County
Commissioners and the Board of Education of the school system concerned. The Orange County
Board of Education approved the application at their meeting on May 16, 1995.
RECOMMENDATION
The Manager recommends that the Board of Commissioners approve the application for $419,419
in Public School Building Capital Funds for the C.W. Stanford Renovation project authorize the
Chair to sign the application.

Short Description of Construction Project:
Refurbishment of this school includes interior and exterior painting, replacing the carpet, repairing the drop ceilings, replacing light
fixtures, replacing doors, replacing venetian blinds, repairing bathrooms and renovating laboratories as required.
This school was constructed in 1968.

$419,41•from the Public School Building capital Fund. We aniy that the prejed herein described is within the
parameters of 115c-546.2(b)and that all of the match is available and designated as match for this project.
