PURPOSE: To consider approving use of services from Neville Engineering for structural engineering
design of the Saddle Club Road solid waste convenience center.
BACKGROUND: The Saddle Club Road solid waste convenience center design phase is nearing
completion and the production of construction documents from which to bid the project is imminent.
Although the County Engineer has accomplished much of the design, it is necessary to have a
structural engineer prepare and place his seal on the design for such things as the retaining walls and
foundation pads upon which the collection equipment will be located. In addition to the design
services, this engineering firm will be responsible for production of blue prints and construction
documents,shop drawing review and approval,construction administration and two field observations.
The quoted fee for this service is$1,500.
RECOMMENDATION: The Manager recommends that the Board authorize the use of services of Neville
Engineering for certain design work at the Saddle Club Road solid waste convenience center for a fee
of$1,500;and authorize the Purchasing Director to execute the necessary paperwork.
