Subject: Reappointments for the Adult Care Home Community Advisory Committee
Dear Thom,
The Adult Care Home Community Advisory Committee would like to recommend Karen Schnell and lames Bartow for
first full terms.
Ms. Schnell's current appointment will expire on 10/30/14. During the past year Ms. Schnell attended 5 out of 6
business meetings and has actively participated in all of her assigned quarterly facility visitations. In addition, she is
now serving as our secretary for the committee.
Mr. Bartow's appointment will expire on 10/31/2014. Mr. Bartow attended 3 out of 4 business meetings and has also
actively participated in all of his assigned quarterly facility visits.
Ms. Schnell and Mr. Bartow are strong advocates for the elderly living in long term care facilities in Orange county and
are valuable assets to this committee.
Please let me know if you need anything else from me to move these recommendations forward.

While in law school I studied legal implications of preparing for long term care and assisted
living, including an independent study on medicaid assistance and long term care. Additionally,
while studying abroad in the United Kindgom, I worked in a member of parliament s office and
my duties included assisting individuals to find adequate housing including cases of disabilities
and special needs.
Reasons for wanting to serve on this board:
Having had relatives in long term care situations I know the importance of insuring that residents
have adequate care and support. I am also interested in getting hands on experience relating to
the relationship between long term care facilities and the state and local governments.
