At the Board's September 16, 2014 regular meeting, petitions were brought forth which were reviewed
by the Chair /Vice Chair /Manager Agenda team. The petitions and responses are listed below:
1) Review and consider a request by Commissioner Dorosin that the County adopt a resolution affirming
support for children coming across the southern US border and their access to services and schools.
Response: Staff to pursue examples from other governments and develop supportive draft resolution
that includes reference to statutes detailing requirements and responsibilities.
2) Review and consider a request by Commissioner Dorosin that the Board review and discuss the 2015
BOCC Meeting Calendar, potentially at a work session.
Response: Draft BOCC 2015 meeting calendar to be reviewed and discussed at October 14, 2014
BOCC work session.
3) Review and consider a request by Commissioner Gordon that the County implement policies
regarding gender neutral language to guide the development of all County documents and
materials.
Response: Staff to develop draft resolution for Board consideration.
4) Review and consider a request by Commissioner Gordon that the County implement policies
regarding abbreviations /acronyms to guide the development of all County documents and
materials
Response: County Manager to provide direction to staff.
5) Review and consider a request by Commissioner Gordon that the Commission for the
Environment's recommendation regarding diversion of food waste be put on a Board agenda
for discussion.
Response: Joint Board Meeting with Commission for the Environment scheduled for October
14, 2014 at 5:30pm; County already has food waste diversion program for businesses and
schools; Collection program has been implemented at Walnut Grove Convenience Center
6) Review and consider request by Commissioner Rich that the County pursue efforts to make all
BOCC emails online for the public to view.
Response: Staff already reviewing cost and feasibility; County Manager and IT Director
working on a plan.
7) Review and consider request by Commissioner Rich that County Planning staff provide updates
to the BOCC when controversial requests /applications are withdrawn by applicants.
Response: County Manager to address with staff.
8) Review and consider request by Commissioner Rich that the County consider ways to ensure
that sub - contractors are paid as part of County construction projects.
Response: County Manager to consult with County Attorney.
This letter will be provided as an Information Item on the October 7, 2014 agenda for public
information.
