BACKGROUND: Citizens who volunteer for county government, or any nonprofit agency in the county are a vital resource to the community. The County is very grateful to its volunteers because they provide a wide array of services in a way that doesn' t cost taxpayers a lot of money. The County will host a volunteer recognition on Sunday, May 7 from 2 :00 to 4 :00 at the Government Services Center. RECOMMENDATION: Approve the Proclamation and authorize the Chair to sign. 2 Resolution Pr o c l a iln ing "Volunteer Recognition Play in Orange County fhereaf thousands of volunteers donate their time, energy, and expertise to Orange County and other organizations that provide services to county residents; and IYhereas volunteers contribute to the enrichment of our community and make Orange County a better place to live; and IIhereas volunteers are a valuable resource to Orange County departments/agencies and contribute to the cost effectiveness of government operations; and fYhereas volunteers strengthen the democratic process by participating in local government activities and working to solve community problems; and 9hereas on May 7, 1995 the Orange County Board of County Commissioners will thank volunteers for their many contributions at a reception to be held at the Government Services Center Therefore,We,the Board of County Commissioners of Orange County thank its volunteers for their community spirit,commitment and expertise in getting things done here in the County Adopted this 1st day of May, 1995 Moses Carey, Jr., Chair
