PURPOSE:
To request that the Orange County Board of Commissioners proclaim April 20 - May 4, 1995,
as Orange County Senior Games Events Days, and encourage citizens over the age of 55 to
participate in the Games.
BACKGROUND:
Orange County Senior Games is a year-round wellness program consisting of a variety of
workshops, clinics, special events culminating in weekly competition each Spring for persons
age 55 and older.
Senior Games is in its eighth year of planning and cooperative efforts among the Orange County
Recreation & Parks, Orange County Department on Aging, Carrboro Recreation and Parks and Chapel
Hill Parks and Recreation Department. The program is funded through these agencies, donations
received from the community and through participant fees.
RECOMMENDATION(S) :
The Manager recommends that the Board of Commissioners proclaim April 20 - May 4, 1995 as
Orange County Senior Games Events Days.
