The Hoard of County Commissioners met 1n adjourned session on i,iondey,
July 23, 1951, at 10:00 o'clock e.m.
Present: Collier Cobb, Jr., Chairman, Sim L. Ef lend end R. 0. Forrest,
Commnissioners.

Eflenrl, the following resolution vres unanimous lg adopted:
:There es, the Board of Commissioners of Orange County at a meeting
held on the 9th day of July, 1951 passed a resolution c¢lling for a
public he ering on the 23rd day of July, 1951 at the Courthouse 1n
- Hillsboro, Horth. Caroline, et 10:00 o'clock a.m., for the purpoee of
determining whether or not the said Bpand should adopt e resolution
providing for rent decontrol within the unincorporated areas of Orange
County: and erne ra es, notice of the time and place of said hearing eras
nubli shod in the Nerrs of Orange County once a week for two successive
weeks, and was published in The Chapel Hill t7e ekly in its issue of July
13, 19$1, both of said nevrsnanars being published in Orange County; end
where es, said public hearing was called as provided by Bald res olutlon
and notice; and whereas, the BAerd of Commissioners, after said hearing,
is of the opinion that due to present housing conditions Federal rent
control regale ti ons ere no longer necessary in Orange County:
P70W HE 1T RESOLVED by the B and of Commissioners of Orange County,
that the Federal rent control within the unincorporated ¢re as of Orange
County be,and the same shell be, terminated as of August 31, 1951, end
that this resolution shall bs in full force and effect on end after
September 1, 1951, subject to tho zpnroval of the prover Pe deral housing
authority. '
Upon motion of Commissioner Forrest, end seconded by Commissioner
Efland, tho following resolution was vnenimouslg adopted:
BE IT RESOLVED that the Board of County Commissioners of Ornnge County
do hereby ¢pnrova, end request the State fa ghwey E: Public L7orks Commission
to construct an allweather hardsurfece road Prom mhe Pines on Highway 54
to soil conservation sheds on the Mason Farm, provided, flznds for this
fr project shall not come from Orenga County Hond allocation.

Upon motion of Comaissionen Forrest, seconded by Comni ssioner EP_and
payment of Lirs. Lois H. Perris for work done in the Register of Deeds office
through July 15, 151 from the emergency Fund vrss approved.
T3}ere were several applicants to fill the vacancy existing 1n the
~ County Accountants Office.

Upon motion of Commiss loner Efland, seconded by Commissioner Forrest
it urea ordered that C¢rl 0. Davis, Tax Collector, advertise the 1950
tax sel.o in the Iderrs of Orange County.
