PURPOSE: To recognize the service of two retiring Human
Relations Commission members .
BACKGROUND: Lynette Jeffries and Miriam Slifkin have both
served on the Human Relations Commission since it was founded
over seven years ago. During this time they have each
chaired or served on numerous committees . In particular,
Lynette Jeffries and Miriam Slifkin have worked for the
development and passage of the recently approved Orange
County civil rights ordinance. These resolutions are being
presented to show appreciation for their leadership, service
and support for the Human Relations Commission; and their
efforts on behalf of improving human relations in Orange
County.
RECOMMENDATION(S) : The Manager recommends that the Board
approve the resolutions and present them to both recipients.

RESOLUTION OF APPRECIATION
FOR
LYNETTE JEFFRIES
WHEREAS, Lynette Jeffries has served Orange County' s Human
Relations Commission in an exemplary manner by providing
active and continued leadership; and,
WHEREAS, Lynette Jeffries has given freely and generously of
her time, talents and energy in order to further human
relations among citizens in Orange County;
NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Orange County Board of
Commissioners, through its members Moses Carey, Jr. , Alice
Gordon, Stephen Halkiotis, Don Willhoit and Bill Crowther;
does express its sincere appreciation to Lynette Jeffries for
her efforts on behalf of the citizens of Orange County.
