PURPOSE: To provide instruction to the County Manager regarding preparation of the
proposed 2000-2001 Fiscal Year budget.
BACKGROUND: In past years, the BOCC has provided the County Manager with some initial
direction and issues to consider as it related to the preparation of the proposed budget for the
upcoming fiscal year. As the County Manager begins the preparation process for the proposed
2000-2001 Fiscal Year budget, it is requested that the BOCC provide input on matters that
should be initially considered and/or included in the proposed budget by the County Manager.
Items for which the Board might want to provide some direction include funding for the the
Lands Legacy Program, funding dedication for a Housing Trust Fund, School/Park Funding
criteria, and any other areas that the Board deems appropriate. The Board may also want to
provide direction to the County Manager regarding potential scenarios that it-would like to
consider as they relate to various budget items. This could include the incremental effects of
possible changes in the County's property tax rate as well as other areas that the Board may
determine.
FINANCIAL IMPACT: None for the current fiscal year budget and undetermined for the 2000-
2001 Fiscal Year budget.
RECOMMENDATION(S): The Manager recommends that the Board provide direction and
information requests as it desires.
