Dear Commissioners,

Post Office Box 8181
200 South Cameron Street
Hillsborough, North Carolina 27278
At the Board's June 3, 2014 regular meeting, petitions were brought forth which were reviewed by the Chair /Vice
Chair /Manager Agenda team. The petitions and responses are listed below:
1) Review and consider a request that the County make efforts to reduce /baffle /eliminate chiller noise at Whitted.
Response: Sound blankets were installed at on Wednesday, June 4th providing significant improvements
in diminishing the sounds of the chiller.
2) Review and consider a request by Commissioner Gordon that BOCC electronic agendas be formatted like the
Planning Board agendas, with each agenda item posted separately instead of as a single document, being able
to print individual documents, and items having page numbers.
Response: Staff notes that BOCC and Planning Board electronic agendas are formatted similarly - both
are posted as single documents, both allow the printing of a subset of the single document (an individual
agenda item), and both include page numbers. Staff is willing to meet with Board members to
review /discuss.
3) Review and consider a request by Commissioner Pelissier regarding a letter to the Town of Chapel Hill in
reference to affordable housing.
Response: The Clerk re -sent the letter to the Town Manager and Mayor of Chapel Hill.
4) Review and consider a request from Commissioner Jacobs for County staff to pursue information from
other governments on ordinances, approval processes, etc., relate to solar facilities.
Response: Staff will review this request and bring back information no later than October 2014.
5) Review and consider a request by Commissioner Dorosin to pursue Board discussion on the nomination
process for potential Board appointees to advisory boards /commissions and on appointees serving on
more than one advisory board.
Response: Staff to plan for Board discussion after seating of new Board members in December
2014.
This letter will be provided as an Information Item on the June 17, 2014 agenda for public information.
