I studied Political Science, US History and completed a semester Urban Studies program in Chicago that gave the opportunity to meet with different constituents and hear their unique concerns. I went on to complete a Masters in African American History at the University of Illinois- Chicago. I have also worked with ethnically and economically diverse populations as an employee in Planned Parenthood clinics, a public librarian, and now as a Human Services Specialist with DSS. I am particularly interested in protecting the most vulnerable in our communities and creating service environments that welcome those who may have intersecting identities such as gender variance and poverty, or disability and ethnic minority status.
