At its meeting last night, the Animal Services Advisory Board (ASAB) unanimously decided to recommend Virgina Fitt, 1D, to the BOCC for the vacant animal advocate position on the ASAB. Ms. Fitt is being recommended because of her extensive experience with animal policy and animal law. The ASAB's back -up recommendation, in the event Ms. Fitt is not available, is Maureen Hoffman, MD, PhD, who has participated in the rescue activities of independent Animal Rescue and the US Equine Rescue League and who also has decades of experience caring for and training animals. It may be worthwhile to note that Ms. Fitt was the person that the ASAB thought it was recommending when it previously made a recommendation to the BOCC for this vacancy. As you are aware, however, her credentials got attached to the name of another person (Marshall Gray) in the application process and as a result the ASAB recommended that person instead of her. With the recommendation 1 am forwarding you at this time, hopefully the entire matter will be brought to closure!
