The Board met at the usual hour in the Commissioners Room at the
Courthouse: Present, Ben F. Wilson, Chairman, Protem and Hubert G.
Laws, Commissioner.
The minutes of the September meeting was read and approved.
WHEREAS, the State Highway and Public Works Commission has filed
with the Board of Commissioners of the County of Orange a map designated
as Project 5-364 showing a proposed relocation of a section of county
road; and
WHEREAS, it appears that this relocation is for the best interest
of the road system of the said county;
NOW, THEREFORE, the Proposed change and relocation as shown on the
said map is hereby approved and ratified.
Mr. Clyde Hughes presented a road petition requesting a road from
Widow Brownts Bridge, near Fairfield Church, through by farm of Clay Dorsett
and others to Babe Torian Farm on Cedar Grove and Harmony road, a distance
of aproximately 32 miles.
141r. James A. Mayes presented a petition asking that the State Highway
and Public Works Commission take over and maintain a road in Viest Hillsboro,
known as North Avenue, said road being about 639 yards in length.
Upon motion, it is hereby ordered that 14r. John =T. Cate Jae paid T71RTEEN
AND 5U/100 DOLLARS for 9 goats killed by dogs.
Upon motiop,it is hereby ordered that 11r. S. P. Lockhart be paid FIFTY
DOLLARS for six turkey gobblers and one turkey hen killed by dogs.
Ruby C. Carraway, Negro, come Demonstration Agent, turned in report
showing work done through her office for the month of September.
!VIrs. Yathryn V. TTanrick, Home Demonstration Agent, presented a narra-
tive report of the Nvork done through her office for the month of September.
She reported that the Chapel Hill Curb Market sales for the month of
September was 4$2,834.73.
Carl C. Davis, Orange County Tax Collector, made a final report on
1945 taxes, as follows:

Upon motion of Commissioner Laws and unanimously passed,it is hereby
ordered that above report be accepted, subject to th(, audit of Vi. 1;.'. Russ,Cer-
tified Public Accountant, and that 1945 tax books be turned 0'&er to G. W. Ray,
County Accountant for further collections.
Upon motion of Commissioner Laws and unanimously adopted, it is hereby
ordered that the 1946 Tax Books be turned over to Carl C. Davis, Tax Collector,
and that he proceed with collection of said taxes, as provided by Law.
There being no further business, upon motion, adjourned.
