Pursuant to adjcurn:r.ent,the Board met at 7.30 P.R12,resent Commissioners J. _d.haws,Ben.
F.Wilson, and Copier Cobb.Jr.
The p:rpose of this meeting was to consider and revise
the I939-I940.County Budget,After carefully considering each and every item and a fu-1
discussion, a Tentative Budget is hereby adopted and a copy of the same is hereby or-
dered filed in the Office of the Register of Deeds for _ublic Inspection, wid the same
is hereby ordered 'Published in The News and thit Chapel Hill 'Weekly as req fired by
the statutes. On motion adjourned to meet at Call of th Chairman
or in regular session at the next regular meeting

Pvrsuamt to a call by Chatvnan J.Ed.Laws, he Board met
in a called Session on July I7th I939,at IO.A.It to ccnsi4er the resignation of .Uiss
Grace E.H.olcombe Home Demonstration Agent,she having tendered her resignati n to accept
an offer of a Position made to her by 3oukingham County, Commiaaioner Ben.P.Wilson af-
ter expressing to Lies Holcombe the regrets of the entire -'oard and as he b leivesall
of Orange Cotunty at the :loss of'her valuable servicesanking her for h r hard and
earnest efforts to give real service, and moved that her resignation be acc pted, as
of July 31st I9391,motion duly sedorded by Commissioner Cobb and regretfully passed.
Miss--A,vant- District Supervisor of Home Demonstration Agents vas present and highly
reccommended Hiss Jerrie Woodard Byars,of the Home Economics Department < t State -
Teachers College,Harrisonburg Va, as a -,erson:well qualified to succedd 1&isi Holcombe,
Upon this reccomrpenda on and upon other info rmation,on motion Commissioner Boffilier
Cobb,moved that Mas ennie `reoodard Byar* be duly elected to suceed 'hiss Ho combs as j
of August Ist I939,this motion was duly seconded by Commissioner 'Wilson and unanimously
adopted.
On motion it is hereby ordered the Ford Car used by Sheriff S.T Latta Jr,fo the part of
the last two years be traded into.the Richmond Motor Company,for a new u- ax, Ford
Sedan with a 95 Horse Power Yotor.
