1inutes of the Board of Commissioners, Noonday December 7th I936
Owing to the address of Govenor Hoey,over the Radio, and the Public installation}
of the County Officers,the Board did noct meet until I1,309present Commissioners
Johh.H.Hanner,Carl T Durham and Dr.S.A Nathan. The minutes of the last meeting
were read and approved.
On motion of Dr.Kethan,seoonded by Commissioner Durham,John.H Hanner is hereby
elected Chairman of the Board for two years from date.
On motion of Commissioner Durham,sedonded by Commissioner Nathan.A.H Graham isi
hereby elected County Attorney for the next two years.

er is hereby appointed County Surveyor for the next two years,
Miss.Grace R Holcombe,Co ty Rome Demonstration Ngent,submitted a detaild report
of her worktogether with

October and November•The report is hereby approved and ordered filed in the prop
er report book,-and the bills ordered paid
On- motion a resolution passed by this Board at the November meeting a uthorimino
the release of the Bonding Company on a bond of G.W Ray,County Accoynt#t. is
hereby rescinded,the said Rond having never been recorded in the County Bond.

hereby elected Supetintendent of the Orange County Home for Two Years.

On motion it is hereby ordered that Jim.Cotton and wife Katie Cotton be admit
ed to the County Home,
Owing to an error is listing taxes of the Estate of the late C,D Tvrner,it is ; (.

hereby ordered that Mrs•Norma-Jackson be allowed a supplemental allowance of j

Office in Chapel Hill,said allowance to be effective as of December Ist,I936

for Turkeys killed by dogs,to be paid from the special Dog Tax fund

ations and the amounts used by each Department to December Ist I936,also a

year I936 amounts to $133.286.02, with releases,di soounts acid collections to
date of$45.129,93 leaving an.unab"ected balance charge to Sheriff Latta,asI

nated the bank,banks or trust comp-nies in this by recorded Resolution,dated j
December 7th 1936,as Official Depositories of the funds of the County,for the
period beginning the 7th day of December,1936,and ending on the 5th day of Dec.

Replying to Sour favor of November 30th,you may regard
this letter as approval by the Local Government Commission of the Fidelity i
Bank,Durham North Carolina,as a depository of security furnished by the-
Farmers and Tuerci�ants Bank, and the Durham Loan and Trust Company,both of
Hillsboro,North Carolina, You may also regard this letter as approval by
the Commission of 49.000.of Orange County Highway Bonds, and $6000,Bonds
of the Town of Roxboro,North Carolina,furnished by the Farmers and Merchants
Bank as suet security.There is no requirement pf law,that the Commission ap-
prove lands of the State of North Carolina,of the Federal Government,or bonds
guarranteed as td principal and interest by the Federal Government,by the --
Local Government Commission,

ly passed all members being presebt and voting theieefor,it is,ordered that the

settlement of I935, taxes as offered by Sheriff.S.T.Latta Jr.,showing an insol-
vent list amountfng to $4.806.99 be accepted subject to audit and approval by
G,W.Ray,County Accountant.
It is further ordered that S.T Latta Jr.,Sheriff of
Orange County,do turn over to G.w Ray,County Accountant,all tax receipt books
for the year I935,tc the end that said County Accountant may continue eolledtin
thereon .
It is futther ordered that upon the audit shove referred being made
and same showing that there is a balance of only $4.806.99,by way of insolvent
and that all collection which havebeen made are 'Atd-y accounted for by payment
to the Treasurer of Orange Countgithen the said Sheriff shall be releived of
further liability for collection of the I936 tax levy. I

shown,as indicated by sand audit,that then the County Accountant is hereb in
structed and authorized to turnover to S.T Latta Jr„Sheriff of Orange C Inty,
the tax books containing the levy for the year I936, and said Sheriff is author-
ized,directed, and instructed to proceed wit# rthe collection of said I936 Is
It is further ordered that S.T Latta Jr.,Sheriff of Orange County be directs
to deposit all County and Local taxes by him colle4fted each and every day to
the credit of the County Treasurer,in the depositories hertafore named by this
Boardisaid daily deposit may be omitted in the event that a sim of less than
$500.00 has been collected;this being in accordance with Section 3941 of the
Revised Statutes of North Carolina
