An ad,j ourned regular meeting of the Board of Commissioners of Orange
County was held on the 7th day of February, 1951> et 8:00 o'clock p. m. in
the Courthouse in Hillsboro, North Cerolina, the regular place of meeting.
Present: Chairman Collier Cobb, Jr., H. G. Leers, and Sim L. Efl¢nd.
Absent: None.
The matter of additional contribution to the Hyconeechee Regional Library
2nc oroorated for the currant year ryes again brought to the attention of the
Hoard. After full discussion, un on motion of Commissioner Ef1¢nd, end seconded
by Cottmissioner Laws, the following resolution was edonted;
RESOLVED, That en additi anal contribution of $300.00 be made
to the Hyconeechee Regional Library Incorporated Sn the current yeer,
said contribution to be paid out of the General Fund Emergency An-
nronriations.
The Chairmen then stated that it was advisable at this time to discuss any
special legisle ti on for the county and to make such recommendations to the
General Assembly as the Board deemed necessary.
The matter of incre esing certain fees In the Register of Deeds office was
then discussed and t1r11 consido ration was given to the fees non chergod and to
the fees being charged Por like services in other counties. IIpon motion of
Commissioner Efl and, seconded by Commissioner Leers, the following resolution
eras edonted:
RESOLVED, That tho Board of Commissioners of Orange County
recommends to the General Assembly of North Cerolina that e special
act be enacted applicable to Orange County incre ¢sing fees for the
registret ion of certain papers in the office of the Register of
Deeds to the iollorvi ng amounts: Chattel mortgages, statutory, L,O~;
crop lien mortgages, long form, 75~; crop lien mortgages, short
form, 50yJ; deeds, regul ¢r, $1.50; deeds of trust, regular, e2.00;
canditi opal sales contract, X1.00; for all other long end Srrogular
instruments, $B0~ for the first 300 vrords and 1$~ for each addit ionel
100 words. That e feo of 50¢ be charged for affixing the official
seal of the Register of Deede to any instrument.
Uoon motion of Commissioner Laws, seconded by Commissioner Efland, the
foil owing resolution urea adontod:
RESOLVED, That the Board of Commissioners of Orange County
recommends to the General Assembly that ¢n Act be passed giving the
C ommi ssi oae rs of Orange County the right to postpone the revaluation
end reassessment of property es provided in G. S. Section 105-278
for the yeer 19$1 & 52.
The matter of salaries for certain elective officials of Orange County was
then discussed by the Board. Upon motion of Commissioner Efl¢nd, seconded by
Cosvmissioner Lavrs, the following resolution wes unanimously adopted:
RESOLVED, T'nat the Board of Commissioners of Orange County here'oy
rec osuaends to the General Assembly that legislation be enacted adopt-
ing the following salary schedule, to be effective as of Docember 1,
19$0: Clerk of the Suoerior Court, $h200.00; Sheriff, .$3800.00;
Register of Deeds, .x,3600.00.
There being no further business to come before Che meeting, upon motion
duly made and seconded and unanimously carried, the meeting was adjourned.
