HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes - 19640707 Minutes of the Board of County Commissioners July 7, 1964 The Orange County Board of Comissioners met in adjourned session on Tuesday,July 7, 1964, at 8:00 o'clock P.M., in the Commissioners Room in the Courthouse in Hillsboro, N. C.,to continue work on the 1964--1965 budget. --- Members Present: Chairman Donald Sanford, Commissioners Harvey Bennett, Gordon Cleveland, Henry S. Walker and Carl M. Smith. Members absent: None. Howard Thompson, superintendent of the Chapel Hill School System, presented the 1964--1965 budget request for his unit. Mr.Thompson was accompanied by members of the Chapel Hill School Board. The current expense request of the Chapel Hill unit was$174,496.00 and their capital outlay request was$430,000.00. After considerable discussion of the proposed budget, the Chairman advised Mr.Thompson that the Board would reach a decision as soon as practical and would inform him of their action immediately following such a decision. Ed Barnes, Orange County Extension Chairman, presented the budget request of the extension service.This request was taken under advisement. There being no further business to come before the Board,the meeting was adjourned to meet on July 13, 1964, at 8:00 o'clock P.M. Donald Stanford Chairman Betty June Hayes, Clerk S. M.
