HomeMy WebLinkAboutMinutes - 19581117 Minutes of the Board of County Commissioners November 17, 1958 The Orange County Board of Commissioner met in called session on Monday, November 17, 1958, at ten o'clock a.m. in the Commissioners' room at the courthouse in Hillsboro, N. C. ' i j Members present: Chairman R. J. M. Hobbs, Commissioners Donald McDade, Donald Stanford, Dwight 'Ray and Henry Walker. � Members absent: none .f i �j This meeting was called for the purpose of interviewing applicants for the position 4 of Delinquent Tax Collector. j Prior to the beginning of the interviews Senator Edwin Lanier spoke to the Board and 1i paid tribute to Commissioner Dwight M. Ray, who will be leaving the Board in December, 1958. Ten persons had filed applications with the Board for the position of Delinquent Tax Collector, 11 and the following nine persons were interviewed: George T. Cole, Frank Frederick, Hugh Wilson, Bill Richmond, Rufus Gates, Ed Murrary, Donald Crawford, Frank Miller,and Leroy Miller,. Woodrow Berry who had filed an application failed to appear before the Board. j� Final action on this matter was deferred until the December meeting. Two road petitions were presented and the Clerk was requested to forward them on to the State Highway Commission. i jj Road located in Chapel Hill Township runs from Kings Mill Road back to Kings Mill Road and known locally as Sourwood Drive. }) Road located in Hillsboro Township runs from Mt. Willing Road near bridge to dead end road north of Mt. Willing Road and known locally as Sunset Circle. The following names were drawn to serve as jurors for the December term of Criminal Court: l 1.
