BACKGROUND: On May 21, 2013, the Board received an overview of the County's Marketing and public relations projects. A motion was made, "That the Board of County Commissioners or designated members would participate in the design or review of any logo for overall use to represent Orange County, including the review of any already developed logo; and that the Board of County Commissioners will have final approval of any such logo, emblem or representation". The motion was approved unanimously. At its Work Session on September 12, 2013, the Board discussed the County Logo and expressed concerns about the design and design process for the Logo. The creation of a Review Committee provided an opportunity for Board members to participate in the design process and finalize a redesigned County Logo to recommend to the Board of County Commissioners (BOCC). Commissioners Renee Price and Penny Rich met with staff on October 22, 2013, reviewed the original County Logo design options and made recommendations for a new logo design. The attachment includes three logo options for Orange County that were designed for the Board to review on November 12, 2013. Commissioners Price and Rich favored Option A. However, the Board requested a fourth logo, which involved a modification to Option C, resulting in Option D. The Board also requested each logo design be displayed in color, black/white and reduced in size. The consultant also included a Facebook icon to represent each of the four logo design options. FINANCIAL IMPACT: The anticipated financial impact for the redesigned County Logo should not exceed $2,200. RECOMMENDATION(S): The Manager recommends that the Board review the redesigned County Logo options (A, B C, or D) and select one design. The new logo design would go into effect on July 1, 2014, allowing for the current logo to be phased out. recluc.a siz„ ORANGE COUNTY NORTH CAROLINA ORANGE COUNTY NORTH CAROLINA ORANGE COUNTY NORTH CAROLINA Facebook Prof le Imag(c 2 2 Logo Option A Logo Redesign comma 1 Orange County Government Reduced size ORANGE COUNTY NORTH CAROLINA ORANGE COUNTY NORTH CAROLINA ORANGE COUNTY ORANGE NORTH CAROLINA COUNTY NORTH CAROLINA Facebook Profile Irnacie 3 3 Logo Option B Logo Redesign comma 1 Orange County Government n Reduced size Logo Option C ORANGE COUNTY 001OWNORTH CAROLINA ORANGE COUNTY NORTH CAROLINA ORANGE COUNTY -'O%VWORTH CAROLINA ORANGE COUNTY NORTH CAROLINA Facebook Profile Image El Logo Redesign comma Orange County Government 5 Logo Option D ' COUNT" , lTOR` CAROLINA ORANGE COUNTY NORTH CAROLINA ORANGE COUNTY =NORTH CAROLINA --Oftw ORANGE COUNTY NORTH CAROLINA Logo Redesign Orange County Government 5 Facak,00k Profile Image comma
