Purpose: To approve a letter of congratulation to the volunteers and staff of the N.C. Transportation
Museum on the occasion of the 100th Anniversary of the Historic Spencer Shops in Spencer,
N.C.
Background: A request from Rowan County has been received, asking that all N.C. counties join in this
statewide recognition. A draft letter is attached for the Board's review.
Recommendation: The Manager recommends approval of the letter with signature of the Chair.

Orange County sends official congratulations to the volunteers and staff of the
North Carolina Transportation Museum on the occasion of the 100th anniversary and
pledge our continued interest and support for the preservation of Historic Spencer Shops
in Spencer,North Carolina.
North Carolinians enjoy a rich history with the NCTM offering a special
opportunity to look back at the development of transportation including railroads,
automobiles and airplanes.
