PURPOSE:
To award a housing rehabilitation contract to R&G Construction Company for exterior repairs at the
Elliott Woods Apartments in Chapel Hill in the amount of$13,200.
BACKGROUND:
One of the activities of the 1995 HOME Program included providing funds for exterior repairs at
the Chase Park and Elliott Woods apartment complexes managed by Inter-Church Council in
Chapel Hill. These complexes provide subsidized rental housing for approximately 78 families in
the County.
County staff prepared the work specifications for this job and published an advertisement for bids in
the local newspaper. On the original bid opening day, September 10, 1996, only one bid was
received. A notice of re-advertisement was published and a second bid opening scheduled for
September 23, 1996. On that day,one bid was received and opened.
The bidder was R&G Construction Company of Charlotte, N.C. with a bid price of $13,200.
County staff has reviewed the credentials of this company and recommend that they be awarded the
contract for the identified repairs at the Elliott Woods Apartments.
RECOMMENDATION(S):
The Manager recommends awarding a housing rehabilitation contract to R&G Construction
Company for exterior repairs at the Elliott Woods Apartments in Chapel Hill in the amount of
$13,200.
