PURPOSE: To increase the stipend paid to members of the ABC Board as
requested by the ABC Board in a letter dated June 19, 1996 from ABC
Board Chair Paul Williams.
BACKGROUND: The present stipend is $50.00 for each board member and
$100.00 for the Chair. These figures were set in 1969 and have not
been adjusted in some 27 years. Other area stipends paid to ABC Board
members are listed below:

Nash County $150.00 $100.00
Moore County $100.00 $100.00
High Point $100.00 $ 50.00
Pitt County $200.00 $150.00
Wayne County $150.00 50.00
RECOMMENDATION: The Manager recommends that the Board of Commissioners
increase the stipend, as requested by the ABC Board, to $100.00 for Board
Members and $150.00 for the Chair.
