Department Health Public Hearing Yes No X Budget Amendment Needed Yes_No X Attachments(s) Information Contact Health Director's Office X2411 3 Renewal Agreements Telephone Number Hillsborough 732-8181 Chapel Hill 968-4501 Mebane 227-2031 Durham 688-7331 Purpose: The purpose for this item is for the Health Department to renew existing agreements with the Departments of Family Medicine, Obstetrics&Gynecology, and Pediatrics on a month-to-month basis while a new, consolidated agreement is being developed by December, 1996. All of the terms of the existing agreements will remain the same. Background: The Orange County Health Department has been served by three separate agreements with the Departments of Family Medicine, Obstetrics&Gynecology, and Pediatrics for the provision of medical care and the supervision of other clinical services in the Adult Health, Family Planning, Communicable Disease, Maternal and Child Health Clinics. These arrangements have been adequate and economical in that both back-up and professional liability coverage have been provided by the University. 2 , However,the existing arrangements have been somewhat fragmented. The Health Director is in the process of meeting with medical school representatives and the Piedmont Health Services to negotiate a more consolidated arrangement which provides for better coordination among the clinical services.These renewal agreements will provide continuing coverage with existing terms until the new agreement can be worked out. Recommendation: The Manager recommends that the renewal agreements between the Health Department and the UNC-CH School of Medicine for its Departments of Family Medicine, Obstetrics & Gynecology, and Pediatrics be approved and the Chair authorized to sign the documents. STATE OF NORTH CAROLINA 3 COUNTY OF ORANGE RENEWAL AGREEMENT BETWEEN ORANGE COUNTY HEALTH DEPARTMENT AND THE UNIVERSITY OF NORTH CAROLINA AT CHAPEL HILL For Its Department of Family Medicine In The School of Medicine THIS AGREEMENT,made and entered into this the 1st day of July, 1996 by and between The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill,hereinafter referred to as "The University,"for its Department of Family Medicine in the School of Medicine and the Orange County Health Department,hereinafter referred to as the"OCHD." WITNESSETH: WHEREAS,an agreement was made and entered into as of the 1 st day of July, 1995 by and between the Orange County Health Department and The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill for its Department of Family Medicine in the School of Medicine. NOW, THEREFORE,in consideration of the premises and of the following mutual promises,covenants,and conditions, OCHD and The University agree as follows: 1. The Agreement will be continued on a month to month basis beginning July 1, 1996 for a period not to exceed six months. 2. All other terms and conditions shall remain the same. IN WITNESS WHEREOF,the parties have hereunto signed this Agreement in their official capacities on the day and year listed below.
