Purpose:
The purpose of this agreement is for JOCCA to provide services specified in the Contract
to improve the health of minority populations in Orange County Communities under the
coordination of the Orange County Coalition. This Coalition involves the Health
Department, the Cooperative Extension service, the UNC-CH School of Public Health,
Piedmont Health Services, JOCCA, and several community-based organizations.
Background:
The Orange County Health Department serves as fiscal agent for the Orange County
Coalition of the Community-Based Public Health Initiative. This Coalition has been
funded through a Contract with the University of North Carolina which has received a
grant from the W.K. Kellogg Foundation. The Coalition agreed that the Health
Department enter into a sub-contract with JOCCA to provide some of the services
2
required for the project. The Board of Commissioners has previously approved sub-
contracts with JOCCA for the periods ending 9/30/93, 9/30/94, and 9/30/95. This
agreement is for the period ending 9/30/96. The attached contracts were recently
approved by the coalition following a revision of the statements of work in the contracts.
The cost of this sub-contract is fully covered by the W.K. Kellogg funds awarded to the
Health Department in a contract which was approved at the Commissioners meeting of
March 6, 1996.
Recommendation:
The Manager recommends that the contract be approved and the Chair be authorized to
sign the contracts.
