PURPOSE:. To approve the Home and Community Care Block Grant Funding Plan.
BACKGROUND: The State Department of Human Resources established the Home and
Community Care Block Grant which became effective July 1, 1992. The grant did not create new
funding streams, but combined funds appropriated to the Department on Aging, Department of Social
Services, and Joint Orange Chatham Community Action Agency to administer programs for senior
citizens.
On May 20, 1996, the Home and Community Care Block Grant Advisory Committee met and
endorsed a recommended funding plan for fiscal year 1996-97. The block grant requires the Board of
Commissioners to approve the recommended funding plan. The recommended funding plan for the
1996-97 fiscal year is the same amount received from the State for fiscal year 1995-96.
RECOMMENDATION(S): The Manager recommends that the Board approve the 1996-97
Home and Community Care Block Grant Funding Plan as endorsed by the Home and Community
Care Block Grant Advisory Committee, and authorize Chair to sign grant documents.
