ANNOUNCE A JOINT PUBLIC FORUM ON
SOLID WASTE MANAGEMENT ISSUES
Thursday, April 18, 7:30 p.m., Chapel Hill Town Hall
Purpose: To provide an opportunity to hear and respond to citizens' and elected officials'
concerns about solid waste issues.
Agenda: Question and Answer Session (by categories)
a. Solid Waste Management Goals Adopted by Orange County
Governments
b. Out-of-County and Regional Cooperation on solid waste
management issues
C. Landfill site search process, criteria and related issues
d. Compensation related to landfill siting and development
e. Alternative technologies

Comments: Questions and statements will be limited to 3 minutes per person per category
topic; the Owners Group is encouraging questions rather than statements.
Citizens will be encouraged to sign up by topic category in order to ask a
question or make a statement.
Handouts: The following is a list of background handouts that will be available at the
meeting. The handouts will also be available for review at Chapel Hill Solid
Waste Management at 1099 Airport Road, Chapel Hill Library, Orange County
Library and Carrboro Library by April 15th. Call 968-2885 for additional
information.
1. Goals for the Management of Solid Waste in Orange County
2. Research of the Landfill Owners Group into Solid Waste Management
Options including alternatives to conventional landfilling. Attachments
include summaries from: HDR Regional Solid Waste Management report,
CDM Alternative Daily Cover report, CDM Baling report, Weston Out-
of-County report, Integrated Solid Waste Management Study time-line.
