PURPOSE: To receive the 1995 State Treasurer' s Governmental
Accounting/Financial Management Award.
BACKGROUND: State Treasurer Harlan Boyles has notified Orange County
that it is the winner of the 1995 Governmental Accounting/Financial
Management Award for counties in North Carolina with a population
greater than 50, 000 . The award is presented for the automated accounts
payable system implemented in FY 1994-95, under the guidance of Finance
Director Ken Chavious, by his staff and a cross-departmental team of
employees dedicated to efficiency and accuracy improvements in the
process of paying the County' s bills .
The award will be presented by a member of the State Treasurer' s
office .
RECO14MENDATION: The Manager recommends that the Board receive the
award and recognize the employees responsible for this achievement .
