PURPOSE: Pursuant to North Carolina General Statute 153-40, the Board
of County Commissioners must fix the time and place of its meetings or
provide a notice of any change in the Regular Meeting Schedule.
BACKGROUND: The April 18, 1996 meeting as indicated on the regular
meeting scheduled is hereby canceled. This was the Joint Planning Area
Public Hearing date and no items have been received for this meeting.
A Special Meeting has been scheduled for April 18, 1996
at 7 : 30 p.m. for an Assembly of Governments public forum on solid waste
issues . The meeting will be held at Carrboro Elementary School, 400
Shelton Street in Carrboro, North Carolina.
A special meeting is hereby scheduled for May 30, 1996 at
7 : 00 p.m. for an Assembly of Governments Informational Forum. This
meeting will be held at the A.L. Stanback School. The purpose of this
meeting will be to receive a report on the Youth Forum meeting held
recently and to provide an opportunity for the elected officials to
discuss and to make recommendations related to youth needs . The second
item will be to receive an historical review of the basis, inherent
policy, and procedures related to the Joint Planning Agreement between
Chapel Hill, Carrboro and Orange County.
RECCMMENDATICN: Approve canceling the April 18, 1996 meeting and setting
an Assembly of Governments meeting for April 18, 1996 at 7 : 30 p.m. at the
Carrboro Elementary School and an Assembly of Governments meeting for May
30, 1996 at 7 : 00 p.m. at the A. L. Stanback School.
