PURPOSE: To receive any updates and allow discussion on Legislative actions affecting
funding for public education.
BACKGROUND: At the April 25, 2013 Joint Boards Meeting, Legislative Update information
from the NC School Boards Association was provided by Orange County Schools
Superintendent Patrick Rhodes for review and discussion. Tonight's agenda item provides an
opportunity to continue discussion and to receive updates on any recent developments and bills
of the NC General Assembly that will have an impact on education and educational funding in
Orange County.
NOTE: Any information and /or updates will be provided at the meeting.
FINANCIAL IMPACT: There is not a financial impact related to receiving the information.
RECOMMENDATION(S): The Manager recommends that the Boards accept any information
provided at the meeting and provide feedback and direction to staff.
