Purpose:
To present checks to the local arts organizations receiving 1997-98 Grassroots Grants.
Background:
The Orange County Arts Commission, as an approved Designated County Partner
(DCP), sub grants Grassroots Grants to local arts organizations from funding
provided by the North Carolina Arts Council Grassroots Arts Program.
Funds are distributed for arts programming that reflects the racial and cultural
diversity of the county. Each organization receiving a Grassroots Grant matches
the grant amount with local dollars in order to receive an award.
Recommendation:
The Acting Director recommends that the Board of County Commissioners
acknowledge the local recipients of the awards during the December 16,1997
meeting with the presentation of checks by the Board Chair, Margaret Brown.
