PURPOSE: To officially accept the report of the Board of Elections regarding the results of the
November 4, 1997 Bond Referendum.
BACKGROUND: The Board of Elections met on Friday,November 7, 1997 for the purpose of
evidencing the canvass of the returns of the November 4, 1997 bond referendum and officially
determining the results thereof. This declaration of results is another required step in the bond
referendum process. The resolution and certifications have been prepared by Bond Counsel and
comply with all statutory requirements.
RECOMMENDATION(S): The Manager recommends that the Board adopt the resolution
certifying the referendum results and authorize the Clerk to publish the results.

A RESOLUTION CERTIFYING AND APPROVING REFERENDUM RESULTS
ON PROPOSED ISSUANCE OF
GENERAL OBLIGATION BONDS BY ORANGE COUNTY
WHEREAS,the Orange County Board of Elections has certified the following results of
the bond referenda held in and for the County on November 4, 1997, as follows:
On the question, "Shall the order authorizing up to $47,000,000 of general obligation bonds of
Orange County, for the purpose of paying capital costs of providing school facilities, together
with related financing and other necessary or incidental costs, as adopted by the County's Board
of Commissioners on August 25, 1997,be approved?"
YES 9624

On the question, "Shall the order authorizing up to $6,000,000 of general obligation bonds of
Orange County, for the purpose of paying capital costs of providing parks and recreation
facilities,together with related financing and other necessary or incidental costs, as adopted by
the County's Board of Commissioners on August 25, 1997, be approved?"

On the question, "Shall the order authorizing up to $1,800,000 of general obligation bonds of
Orange County, for the purpose of paying capital costs of providing housing for the benefit of
persons of low and moderate income,together with related financing and other necessary or
incidental costs, as adopted by the County's Board of Commissioners on August 25, 1997, be
approved?"

Orange County, for the purpose of paying capital costs of expanding sanitary sewer systems.
together with related financing and other necessary or incidental costs, as adopted by the

have approved the issuance of such bonds,
BE IT THEREFORE RESOLVED by the Board of Commissioners of Orange County,
North Carolina,that the Board hereby certifies and approves such results and declares the
issuance of such bonds to be authorized;and,
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Clerk to this Board is hereby authorized and
directed promptly to publish a statement of such results in the form prescribed by statute.
