County Board of Commissioners
WHEREAS, the Orange County Board of Health has recommended
to the Orange County Commissioners that the compensation of the
Health Director be revised to provide for the payment to the
Health Director of a lump sum payment equivalent to his present
salary for one month, plus the payment to the North Carolina
Local Government Retirement System of the employer retirement
contribution calculated on the amount of the lump sum payment, in
consideration of the Health Director making himself available to
Health Department staff and the Board of Health for six months
after his resignation to advise and consult on matters as needed
to facilitate a smooth transition for the Orange County Health
Department and Board of Health following the resignation of the
Health Director; and
WHEREAS, the Board of County Commissioners has determined
that it is in the best interests of the County to provide the
recommended compensation to the Health Director.
NOW, THEREFORE, IT IS RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF COUNTY
COMMISSIONERS OF ORANGE COUNTY THAT the compensation for the
Health Director' s services is amended to provide for the payment
on the date of his resignation of a lump sum payment equivalent
to his present salary for one month, plus the payment to the
North Carolina Local Government Retirement System of the employer
retirement contribution calculated on the amount of the lump sum
payment, in consideration of the Health Director ' s agreement to
make himself available to Health Department staff and the Board
of Health for six months to advise and consult on matters as
needed to facilitate a smooth transition for the Orange County
Health Department and Board of Health following the Health
Director' s resignation.
Upon motion made by Commissioner Gordon, seconded by
Commissioner Carey the foregoing resolution was adopted.

Noes : Commissioner Halkiotis
I, Beverly A. Blythe, Clerk to the Board of Commissioners
for the County of Orange, North Carolina, DO HEREBY CERTIFY that
the foregoing has been carefully copied from the recorded minutes
of the Board of Commissioners for said County at a regular
meeting of said Board held on September 2 , 1997, said record
having been made in the Minute Book of the minutes of said Board,
and is a true copy of so much of said proceedings of said Board
as relates in any way to the passage of the resolution described
in said proceedings .
