Foundation on March 17, 1997 to fund the Orange County D.A.R.E. Program. Although Chief Eubanks wanted his staff to participate in the D.A.R.E. Program during the 1997-98 school year, he felt that using any of the current staff to work with D.A.R.E. for 17 weeks would create other staffing problems within the department. To avoid sending the $7,000.00 back to Raleigh, Handy Gunter from the S81 agreed to allow Orange County Schools to transfer the funds to your department. If the Sheriff's Department is interested in using this money for the 1997-98 school year to support the existing D.A.R.E. Program, please complete and return the enclosed application to me by Friday, June 27, 1997. 1 can be reached at 732-6271 ext. 259 after June 23, 1997, if you have any further questions.
