PURPOSE: To consider reappointing Ginger Rolfe as Orange County Tax Collector for a two year
term, effective July 1, 1997.
BACKGROUND: Chapter 105-349 of the North Carolina General Statutes requires the Board of
County Commissioners to appoint a tax collector"for a term to be determined by the governing
board". Orange County's practice has been to make appointments to the office of Tax Collector for
two year terms. Ms. Ginger Rolfe was originally appointed Tax Collector for the two year period
July 1, 1995 - June 30, 1997.
RECOMMENDATION(S): The Manager recommends that the Board reappoint Ginger Rolfe as
Orange County Tax Collector for a period of two years, effective July 1, 1997.
