PURPOSE: To adopt a Resolution of Appreciation for Norma B. White in recognition of her six
years of service on the Orange County Historic Preservation Commission.
BACKGROUND: On May 21, 1991,Norma White was appointed as one of the original members of
the County's Historic Preservation Commission.This group has worked diligently to
establish a firm foundation for Orange County's preservation program,which has
enjoyed many successes in its first six years.
Norma served as Vice Chair from June 1994 until April 1996, when she was elected
as Chair. As a registered landscape architect, she has been the HPC member uniquely
qualified to recognize the historic character of Orange County's rural landscape as a
significant resource worthy of protection. She is to be commended for her expertise
and leadership as an Orange County volunteer.
RECOMMENDATION: The Administration recommends approval of the Resolution of Appreciation for
Norma B. White for her service on the Orange County Historic Preservation
Commission.

RESOLUTION OF APPRECIATION
for
NORMA B. WHITE
WHEREAS, Norma B. White was appointed as a charter member of the Orange
County Historic Preservation Commission on May 21, 1991; and
WHEREAS, Norma led the Historic Preservation Commission as its Chair and
Vice Chair for three years ; and
WHEREAS, she faithfully served her fellow citizens of Orange County on
this volunteer commission which laid the foundation for the County's
program of preserving its historic and archaeological resources; and
WHEREAS, her knowledge and experience in landscape architecture consistently
guided the Historic Preservation Commission in their efforts;
THEREFORE, the members of the Orange County Board of Commissioners do
hereby thank Norma B. White, upon her retirement from the Orange
County Historic Preservation Commission, for the service she
performed on their behalf.
ADOPTED this the 5th day of May, 1997.
