ORANGE COUNTY GOVERNMENT WEEK
April 13-19, 1997
PROCLAMATION
WHEREAS, April 13-19, 1997, is National County Government Week and
Orange County is proud of its key role in the governmental
partnership as the local provider and facilitator of important services
for the community; and
WHEREAS, Orange County is committed to enhancing ways for citizens to learn
more about and have input in local decisions; and
WHEREAS, Orange County delivers key services that many citizens rely on daily
activities - such as restaurant inspections,jail operations,
vaccinations and immunizations, emergency management,
ambulance services,job training and related support services, child
health and protection, aging programs, drug and alcohol treatment
and rehabilitation, collection of child support monies, filing of
property deeds, waste reduction and disposal, economic
development strategies, land use and tax mapping; and
WHEREAS, Given our involvement in these key services and our close proximity
to those we serve, Orange County is well positioned to further
strengthen the relationships between government and its citizenry;
and
WHEREAS, Orange County is committed to building a stronger partnership with
its citizens in defining community problems and solutions through
such efforts as strategic planning and local focus groups.
NOW, THEREFORE, We,the ORANGE COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS,
do hereby proclaim the week of April 13-19, 1997, as Orange
County Government Week, and further encourage all citizens to
become familiar with the services provided by Orange County
government.
