Purpose: To provide information on the status of Welfare Reform initiatives and on the
delivery of protective services to abused, neglected, and dependent children and their
families.
Background: Representatives of the Community Child Protection Team will make a
presentation on the status of Child Protective Services (CPS) in Orange County.
Overhead slides will be used to present an overview of CPS, to provide statistics on
referrals and dispositions, and to highlight the strengths and gaps in the current delivery
system. Staff members, including social workers, will be present to answer questions.
The status report on Welfare Reform initiatives will be presented by staff members.
They, too, will utilize overhead slides to present the information. This report will focus
on the Work First program , implications for certain recipients who currently receive
services, and emerging issues.
Specific proposals and/or recommendations will not be included in the presentations.
The purpose of the worksession is to provide information on the two programs that we
expect will require special attention by funders and providers over the next few years.
