Monday, November 7, 1949
The Board met at the usual hour in the Commissioners' Room at the Court-
house with all members present.
The minutes of the October meetings were read and approved.
Don S. Matheson, County Farm Agent reported on the dairy situation in the
County. He stated that there were 100 Grade "A" Daries in the County and en-
eral Grade "C ", which he hoped to get qualified as Grade "A ". He also stated
that 500 cows had been bred by artificial means the 1st year, and that ha
thought this visa going to help the dairy business a lot. He reported that the
Schley Grange Hall was almost complete and that it would be dedicated on Decem-
ber 6th.
Miss Virginia Cathay made a fine report on 4 -H Clubs and Home Demonstratio
work throughout the County.
Upon motion of Commissioner Laws, duly seconded by C=issioner Wilson,
the following revisions were made in Aid to Blind cases.
Grant of Jessie Pratt was reduced from ^$24.00 per month
to $21.00 per month.
Julia Annie Fisher was added to Aid to Blind cases. The
amount of her grant being $°30.00 per month.
Road petitions, asking that the State Highway and Public Works Commission
take over and maintain the following roads, were presented:
Road running from Highway No. 54 at Morgan's Filling Station
to Arthur Lloyd's on Bethel Church Road. Length of road: 2 miles.
Road known as Goldston Avenue, which runs off of High Street
and is 600 feet in length.
Road at West Hillsboro running from the home of James Long to
Mrs. Lorena Moon's and known as the Cemetery Road. Length of
road: 3/4 mile.
The Board authorized Ira A. Ward to secure bids from the several Electrica -�
Appliance Dealers in the County on a standard electric range for the Jail.
On motion of Commissioner Wilson, duly seconded by Commissioner Laws at an
unanimously adopted the Board adjourned to meet at 11 o'clock A. M. on Friday,
November 25, 1949, for the purpose of canvassing the returns of the election
which will be held on November 22, 1949. The Clerk to this Board is instructed
to request a meeting of the County Board of Election on Friday morning, Novem-
ber 25th, 1949•
