The Board met at 7:h5 o'clock P. Li., Wednesday, September 21, 1949, in the
Commissioners' Room at the Courthouse. Present: Collier Cobb, Jr., Chairman,
Ben F. Wilson and H. G. Levis, Commissioners.
This meeting was called for the purpose of discussing the new method now I�
being used by the State Highway Commission for the approval of roads to be
hardsurfaced.
Don S. Matheson and G. 0. Reitzel aooeared before the board and discussed
the meeting with the State Highway Commissioner, James Barnwell, scheduled for
1.1onday night, September 26, 19.9•
The Board advised Mr. Reitzel and Mr, fatheson that it would appreciate
any halo it could get on the selection of the roads to be hardsurfaced and
would be glad to work with the committee to be appointed at the scheduled road
meeting.
Uoon motion, the Board approved the spending of $10.00 from the General
Fund. Emergency Aoproprlations for cost cards to be used in notifying the citi-
zens of the County, concerning the road meeting scheduled for Monday night,
September 26, 1949•
The Board appointed the following citizens as new members of the Steering
Committee for the Bond Election:
L. J. Phipps, Co- Chairman - Chapel Hill
Ernest T. Hearn - Carrboro
F. M. Durham - Carrboro
G. O. Reitzel - Hillsboro
Mrs. J. S. Henninger - Chapel Hill
Reid Roberts St. Mary's
A. K. McAdams - Cheeks
Manley Snipes.- Orange Grove
There being no further business, upon motion, adjourned.
