A RESOLUTION APPROVING THE PURCHASE PRICE OF
THE SITE FOR THE NEW HIGH SCHOOL IN
THE ORANGE COUNTY SCHOOLS DISTRICT
WHEREAS, the bond referendum approved by Orange County voters in November 1997 included a
portion of the funding required for the construction of a new high school in the Orange County Schools
district; and
WHEREAS, the Orange County Schools have, since the approval of that bond referendum,engaged in a
process for identifying and selecting an appropriate site for that new high school, and have obtained
options for the purchase of an appropriate site; and
WHEREAS,North Carolina General Statutes §115C-426 (f), provide that"...no contract for the
purchase of a site shall be executed nor any funds expended therefor without the approval of the board of
county commissioners as to the amount to be spent for the site ..."; and
WHEREAS, representatives of the Orange County Board of Education have presented sufficient
information to persuade the Board of Commissioners that the proposed purchase price of$603,200 for the
64.8 acres under consideration is an appropriate amount to be spent for the site;
NOW, THEREFORE,BE IT RESOLVED by the Orange County Board of Commissioners that it hereby
approves the amount to be spent by the Orange County Board of Education for the site of the new high
school.
