At the Board's February 19, 2013 regular meeting, four petitions were brought forth which were reviewed by the
Chair/Vice Chair /Manager Agenda team and the petitions and responses are below:
1) Review and consider request by Commissioner Pelissier that the Board respond to the request for
comments regarding the Falls Lake Rules by sending a letter to the NC Department of Environment
and Natural Resources.
Response: This letter was discussed as part of March 12th Board work session,
2) Review and consider a request by Commissioner Pelissier that the County move forward with actions
related to ag support enterprises by reviewing zoning and other ordinances, soliciting input on ag
tourism, soliciting input from multiple County advisory boards, have a listening session that
includes advisory board representatives, and receive a timeline from staff for the process to chart
the course of the effort
Response: Staff to research and compile information from past work and schedule item
for May 14th work session.
3) Review and consider request by Steve Dear, representing People of Faith against the Death Penalty, that
the Board consider holding a public hearing and possible adoption of a resolution in support of a repeal of
the death penalty.
Response: Resolution to be scheduled for the BOCC April 23rd Board Meeting and a
notification will be sent to the petitioner.
4) Review and consider a request by Don O'Leary to meet with Commissioners to discuss the ICLEI issue.
Response: A letter will be sent to the petitioner indicating that the Chair, Vice Chair, and
Dave Stancil will meet with him at the Link Center to discuss his concerns.
This letter will be provided as an Information Item on the March 19, 2013 agenda for public information.
