PURPOSE: To consider making an appointment to the Adult Care Home Community Advisory
Committee.
BACKGROUND: The following appointment is for Board consideration:
• Appointment to a first full term for Ms. T. L. Crews. Ms. Crews' one year training term will
expire 03/31/2013. If appointed, Ms. Crews will be serving a first full term expiring

Dear Jeanette,
The Nursing Home Community Advisory Committee would like to recommend Ms. Vicki Barringer for a first full
term. Her current one year training term will be expiring 3131113. During the past year, Ms. Barringer attended 100%
of the committee's business meetings and actively participated in all of her assigned quarterly facility visits. Ms.
Barringer has a strong interest in improving the quality of life for Orange County residents living in long term care
facilities and she is a strong advocate.
The Adult Care Home Community Advisory Committee would like to recommend Ms. T LCrews for a first full
term. Her current one year appointment will be expiring on 3131113. During the past year Ms. Crews attended 5 out
of 6 business meetings and has actively participated in all of her assigned quarterly facility visits. Ms. Crews has a
passion and love for seniors living in long term care facilities and her input on this committee has been invaluable.

because I am experiencing first -hand, in regards to my elderly mother, in trying to find an
affordable assisted - living facility in good standard that really uphold the care and the
best interest of their residents. Also the assurance of knowing that these facilities are
being governed by guidelines, rules and regulations that they have to adhere to and that
there are committees to visit these faciliteis to ensure that these guidelines are being
carry out. It is difficult enough to have to place our elderly family members in a facility
but having the reassurance in knowing that they are being well taken care of makes this
transition a lot more bearable.
Volunteer Experience: I volunteer at my church, Hospitality- serving guests of the Pastor
and greeting members as they enter the church, Sisters of Jubilee- visiting the Women
prisons in Raleigh, organizing birthday parties, prayer and fellowship, visiting the sick and
shut in.
