Dear Commissioners,
At the Board's November 8, 2012 regular meeting, Commissioner Jacobs brought forth two
petitions and they were reviewed by the Chair/Vice Chair/Manager at agenda review:
1) Requested a reportipresentation from the Elections Director on the status of the
election, and to ask that this report be provided after each election.
2) Asked what events were being planned by Orange County in honor of Veteran's
Day and said he was aware that this position for Veteran's Affair director was
currently vacant but that the county was advertising for this position.
After review of this petition,the Chair/Vice Chair/Manager provided the following:
1) The Elections Director will provide an information report to the Commissioners as
part of the December 3`d agenda on this past election.
2) Events did occur in Orange County—both at UNC and the Town of Chapel Hill—
in reference to Veteran's Day celebrations and that Orange County was actively
pursuing a person for the position of Veteran's Affair Director to serve Orange County.
This letter will be provided as an Information Item on the November 20, 2012 agenda
for public information.
