PURPOSE: To amend Policy#430 "Procedure for Local Travel Expense Reimbursement"to
reflect the increase in local travel allowance.
BACKGROUND: The mileage rate reimbursement for use of personal vehicles related to
County business was increased on July 1, 2001 to 34.5 cents per mile, which is the federal rate.
Policy#430, which was last amended on October 6, 1998, set the local travel for the Chair of
the County Commissioners at $120.00 per month and for the County Commissioners at $95.00
per month. The 34.5 cents per mile would increase the monthly allowance to $135.00 for the
Chair and $110.00 for the County Commissioners.
FINANCIAL IMPACT: The money to cover the increase has been budgeted in the Clerk's
budget.
RECOMMENDATION(S): The Manager recommends that the Board amend Policy#430 to
increase the local travel for the Chair to $135.00 per month and for the Vice-chair and County
Commissioners to $110.00 per month.
